From my teens through to my early thirties, anxiety and panic attacks were a constant. Not always loud. Not always visible. But always there — underneath everything, running quietly in the background of every decision, every day.
I tried everything. I am not being dramatic when I say that. Breathing techniques. Grounding exercises. Counselling. Therapy. And they helped — for a while. Then something would happen, life would move, and the anxiety would come back. Sometimes worse than before. I got very good at starting again.

One day I was sitting in my car with two children under the age of two. A wave of panic rolled over me — silent tears streaming down my face, heart pounding, shortness of breath, hands trembling. Afterwards, when the exhaustion hit, I had one clear thought: I cannot carry on like this. I did not want my children to grow up seeing me that way. I wanted to be better for them.
That night, when the children were asleep, I started searching. All the usual things came up — breathing techniques, grounding techniques, counselling and therapy services. Honestly, there was nothing I had not already tried.
And then something shifted. Not in what I found. In the question I was asking.
Everything I had ever tried had been about managing anxiety. Not understanding it. And that right there — that was the question that changed everything. Why was it that I suffered with it in the first place?
My sister did not struggle with anxiety. My friend seemed to glide through life — when problems arose, it was water off a duck's back. Why was I different? Not weaker. Not broken. Different. And if there was a reason for the difference, there was a reason I could find — and work with.
From that question, I started to form what is now known as the Anxiety Breakthrough Formula. Once I realised I could help myself, I thought about helping others. Friends and family first. Then I opened my first practice.
Every approach Sarah had tried — and she had tried them all — was working at the level of the symptom. Make the panic more manageable. Make the thoughts less overwhelming. Make the triggers easier to face. All of it aimed at what anxiety looked like, not what it was.
The question that changed everything was not "how do I make this more bearable?" It was "why does this exist in me at all — when it does not exist in the same way in others?"

When their youngest child became ill, in-person sessions were no longer possible. Rather than pause, Sarah and Richard took the practice online. What felt like a constraint became an expansion — they could now work with people anywhere in the world, and did.
After years of being asked "how do you do this?" — from other practitioners, from clients who had transformed and wanted to help others — Sarah began training practitioners in the Anxiety Breakthrough Formula. The Emotional Health Coach Academy was born. Collectively, they could reach far more people than Sarah ever could alone.
The Anxiety Breakthrough Formula is now mapped and aligned to NHS NICE guidelines. Practitioner training is mapped to the Personal Care Institute and Coaching Association UK. The course is certified by the CPD UK Certification Service. A rigorous code of ethics and best practice standards governs everything we do.
